ev birth services
Hi there, my name is Erin vanderMark and I am a Professional Birth and Postpartum Doula with Doula Canada. I recently moved to the beautiful Okanagan Valley from Vancouver. Prior to moving to Kelowna, I managed a Midwifery Clinic in Vancouver where I was so fortunate to work with and learn from the incredible Midwives at the Clinic.
I grew up in the small town of Smithers, BC, this is where my interest in pregnancy and birth began. For as long as I can remember I have always found pregnancy and birth both beautiful and amazingly fascinating. In 2011 I moved to Alberta and attended the University of Calgary, where I obtained a degree in Sociology with a minor in Health Sciences. While completing my undergraduate degree, I worked as a Postpartum Doula and Nanny for a family in Calgary. Over those four years, I was a part of the perinatal experience for two of their three children. My involvement throughout those pregnancies and births ignited my passion to learn more about childbirth, as well as newborn care and postpartum support.
In 2021 I attended the Postpartum Support International Conference where I took their Perinatal Mental Health Specialist Certification course.
Aside from my passion for maternity care, I love to travel and explore - so far I’ve traveled to over 20 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, Central America and North America. Visiting other countries and cultures over the years really sparked my interest in women’s health. The countries and cities I have visited are all so different, we have different cultures, beliefs and traditions; but we are all built the same. We have the same reproductive system and bring life into this world the same simple and beautiful way.
So far in my Doula career I have attended over twenty five births throughout the city of Vancouver as well as in Tanzania, East Africa. I could not be more excited to be a part of care and I look forward to meeting you and supporting you throughout this incredible journey!
